French author Anne Berest (The Postcard) was at the French Institute to talk about her book Gabriële, co-written with her sister Claire Berest. This atmospheric, exuberant novel based on the life of their great grandmother, Gabriële Buffet, tells the story of this pioneering French woman and her relationships with artists Francis Picabia and Marcel Duchamp.
