French author Camille de Peretti was at the French Institute to discuss her novel Portrait of an Unknown Woman. Inspired by the extraordinary story of a painting by Gustav Klimt that was lost, repainted, stolen and ultimately rediscovered, the novel retraces the imagined life behind the portrait, following the traces of a woman who slipped out of history and into fiction. De Peretti was in conversation with author Ben Faccini, who discussed his latest novel Other People’s Children.
