Small Boat by Vincent Delecroix, translated by Helen Stevenson and shortlisted for the 2025 International Booker Prize, has been adapted into an eight-part drama for BBC Radio 4.

Inspired by the 2021 Channel shipwreck in which 27 migrants lost their lives, the series gives voice to a French coastguard haunted by questions of responsibility, indifference and guilt. Read by Lydia Wilson and Tommy Sim’aan, the adaptation is now available in full on BBC Sounds.
