The French Institute supports the forthcoming visit to the UK of critically acclaimed best-selling author Anne Berest.

A descendant of renowned artist Picabia, Anne Berest, who previously published with her sister Claire a biography of musician Gabriële Buffet-Picada, will be crossing the Channel to engage British audiences with her latest novel, The Postcard (Europa Editions, 2023).

Told from the point of view of the author herself, whose Jewish-Russian refugee ancestors were murdered at Auschwitz, The Postcard is a poignantly gripping investigation into a family’s past. Following the Rabinovitch family from Russia to Latvia, Palestine, France and ultimately Poland, Berest delivers a heartbreaking and powerful tale of love, resilience and search for identity in the ashes of a devastated family.
