Applause
Sun 05 OctIn 1929, Georgian-born filmmaker Rouben Mamoulian directed this landmark early ‘talkie’, breaking new ground in visual and sonic experimentation. Applause tells the story of Kitty Darling (Helen Morgan), a fading burlesque star who tries to save her convent-educated daughter from following in her footsteps.
We are delighted to be projecting the 35mm print, not shown in Europe since it was screened in Bologna at Il Cinema Ritrovato 2023.
