Father of the Gruffalo and Pip and Posy, Axel Scheffler will cross paintbrushes with illustrator Grace Easton whose playful, character-driven work includes the much-loved House with the Little Red Door. Both friends of the festival, their worlds and characters will collide on stage for a unique and fabulous drawing duo projected on the cinema screen.

Axel Scheffler

Axel Scheffler, born in Hamburg, Germany, is a renowned illustrator based in London. He gained fame for his collaboration with Julia Donaldson on books like The Gruffalo, a global bestseller translated into over 20 languages. With a first-class degree in illustration from Bath Academy of Art, Scheffler’s humorous and engaging artwork has adorned numerous children’s books, making him a celebrated figure in the world of literature.

Grace Easton

Grace Easton is an author and illustrator based in London. She is Senior Illustrator at luxury goods company Smythson of Bond Street and a former designer for Anorak magazine and Penguin Books. She is the illustrator of the bestselling children’s edition of Prisoners of Geography, shortlisted for the Waterstones Book of the Year and Children’s Travel Book of the Year. She is also a contributing illustrator to Everything Under the Sun.
