The Gheorghius, a devout Romanian-Norwegian couple, settle in a remote village nestled in a fjord, where they grow close to their neighbours, the Halbergs. Their children form friendships of their own, despite being raised according to very different values. But when teenage Elia Gheorghiu arrives at school with bruises on her body, the community begins to question whether her parents’ traditional approach to education may be to blame. In his latest moral drama, Cristian Mungiu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, R.M.N.) explores the tensions between family, faith and personal responsibility. The film was awarded the Palme d’Or at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
