Winner of the Jury and Audience Awards at Annecy, as well as the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at Cannes, Iron Boy is a remarkable debut feature from Louis Clichy (Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods).
This hand-painted 2D coming-of-age film follows 10-year-old Christophe, expected to follow in his father’s footsteps and take over the family farm. When he begins to suddenly lean and collapse without warning — on the tractor, at school, even at the dinner table — he is forced to wear a corset to keep himself upright. But his world begins to change with the discovery of music and a new friendship with Clara, opening up possibilities he had never imagined.
Set in rural France in the 1980s, Iron Boy is a subtle yet powerful portrait of adolescence, distinguished by its restrained use of colour and inventive sound design.
