In South East Spain, there’s a small village where it is believed that some women are destined to be taken by the water each year with the floods provoked by storms. Ana is a young girl living with her mother and grandmother, who feels trapped in this village and its conventions. López Riera’s first feature film is a beautiful take on traditional beliefs, social structures and the resilience of a single woman. One question lies throughout: can a person escape their fate? The answer lies in Ana.
