Viva Carmen!

Inspired by Georges Bizet’s world-famous opera, Viva Carmen! transports us to 1820s Seville. After three years away, 13-year-old Salva returns to his hometown, where he is quickly captivated by the mysterious Carmen — a woman as sublime, spellbinding and fiercely individual as the city itself. When an omen reveals that death is approaching, Salva enlists his street friends in a bid to save her.

Following Chicken for Linda!, Sébastien Laudenbach delivers another exhilaratingl animated film, seen through the eyes of a young protagonist. This time, his distinctive impressionistic style bursts with warm, almost dazzling colours that evoke the intensity of the Andalusian heat, set against the deep shadows of the city. The result is a visually stunning, boldly contemporary reimagining of the opera.
