With an increasing awareness in the books industry on the importance of diversity and inclusivity, publishers are realising the need to broaden representation. Though with this comes issues around authenticity. From cultural appropriation to tokenism, Nadine Kaadan and Harry Woodgate dig into some of the pitfalls as well as the positives, and explore what we can do to have empowered and authentic representation in children’s books.
