Join Sarah Ardizzone, award-winning translator of Joann Sfar’s comics art version of Saint-Exupéry’s classic fable The Little Prince, as she takes readers of all ages on a creative translation journey.

A hands-on workshop for Little Prince enthusiasts aged 7 to 107: let’s explore what we think we’re doing when we translate. Can we translate pictures as well as words? What about sounds? Whether you’re a code-cracker, a language detective, a wordsmith, a visual artist, a multi-linguist, a creative problem solver, or simply curious, we want your energy!

Saint-Exupéry’s original words remain (almost) the same as they encounter a zany graphic universe in Joann Sfar’s fresh reimagining. What does this mean for the reader? Help us to celebrate the reissue of Sfar’s comics version (SelfMade Hero, 2026) to mark the 80th anniversary of the original French edition of The Little Prince.

Some knowledge of French is helpful but not essential.
