Following the success of the two previous editions and the support provided to 17 artists, Magnetic 3 is extending its network of residencies, in partnership with leading artistic institutions, to two new associated venues, Bétonsalon in Paris and Gasworks in London.
The ten residencies will be organised in tandem, to bring the French and British art scenes closer together and reinforce Magnetic’s network dimension.
What does this mean?
Each residency is based on a tandem partnership between one French region and a UK nation. Artists from each one of the four regions in France are invited to apply for the residency based in the associated UK nation; and artists from each UK nation are invited to apply for the residency based in the associated region in France.
This year, the partnership pairings will associate :
Tandem CAPC (Bordeaux, Nouvelle-Aquitaine) / Wysing Arts Centre (Cambridge, England):
- The CAPC residency in Bordeaux is open to artists based in England
- The Wysing Arts Centre residency in England is open to artists based in Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Tandem Frac Grand Large (Dunkirk, Hauts-de-France) / Flax Art Studios (Belfast, Northern Ireland):
- Frac Grand Large residency is open to artists based in Northern Ireland
- Flax Art Studios residency is open to artists based in Hauts-de-France
Tandem Villa Arson (Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur) / Cove Park (Helensburgh, Scotland):
- Villa Arson residency is open to artists based in Scotland
- Cove Park residency is open to artists based in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
Tandem Frac Bretagne (Rennes, Brittany and Galerie du Dourven) / Aberystwyth Arts Centre (Aberystwyth, Wales):
- Frac Bretagne residency is open to artists based in Wales
- Aberystwyth Arts Centre residency is open to artists based in Brittany
Tandem Bétonsalon (Paris, Ile-de-France) / Gasworks (London, England):
- Bétonsalon residency is open to artists based in England
- Gasworks residency is open to artists based in Île-de-France.
