Fragile Memory
Sat 30 SepYoung director Ihor Ivanko, grandson of leading Soviet cameraman at Odesa Film Studio, Leonid Burlaka, who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, discovers a hidden and damaged film and photo archive from his grandfather’s past.
The damaged negatives become a reflection on Burlaka’s fading memory and go on to become art pieces in their own right. This is a stirring portrait of Burlaka and his relationship with his family, looking back on 50 years of the Odesa Film Studios and Soviet filmmaking.
